Laura Gierhart, 84, a former Portland resident, died Tuesday in San Antonio.
Born in Jay County to Orlie and Inez (Starr) Shawver, she was preceded in death on Oct. 29, 1978, by her husband Robert Gierhart whom she married on June 29, 1958.
She had worked at Jay Garment, East Elementary School and The Graphic Printing Co., all in Portland.
Surviving are two sons, Dale Gierhart (wife: Angela), Avilla, and Dana Gierhart (wife: Michelle), Auburn; two daughters, Denise Gierhart and Deann Gierhart, both of San Antonio; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation is 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. with Pastor Herb Hummel officiating. Burial will be in Twin Hills I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Pennville.
