Aging week begins with Sunday social

The third annual Active Aging Week will be at The Arthur and Gloria Muselman Wellness Pavilion in Berne for those 55 and older with the theme “Senior Camp Adventure.”
The week begins with an ice cream and cobbler social from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Activities on Monday begin at 6 a.m. with water aerobics; at 8 a.m. will be water aerobics and walking; at 9 a.m. is an outdoor yoga class, at 10:30 a.m. are hillbilly golf, corn hole, bocce ball and putt putt golf; at 1 p.m. is a SilverSneakers classic; and at 2 p.m. are DNR presentations of Indiana Parks.
Tuesday’s activities will begin at 9 a.m. with weight room instruction and water walking; at 9:45 a.m. will be water toning; and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. will be a community tour, lunch at the Limberlost Visitor Center and a half mile hike through the Loblolly Marsh. The cost is $5.
Water aerobics will be held at 6 a.m. again on Sept. 24, as well as water aerobics and walking at 8 a.m. and outdoor yoga at 9 a.m. At 10:30 a.m. will be DNR birds of prey, SilverSneakers at 1 p.m. and a bird feeder craft at 2:30 p.m.
Weight room instruction and water walking will be at 9 a.m. on Sept. 25, followed by water toning at 9:45 a.m. A free senior lunch and Swiss Village campus tour will be at 11:30 a.m. The day will conclude with a campfire and story telling with Jerry Sprunger at 7 p.m. (bring a chair).
On Sept. 26 will be water aerobics at 6 a.m. and a fishing derby at 9 a.m.
Events will conclude Sept. 27 with a Health and Wellness Fair from 7:30 to 11 a.m. There will be health screenings, blood draws and free lipid profile checks from Bluffton Regional Medical Center and Francine’s Friends Mobile Mammography will offer mammograms. Bingo will be played from 9 to 10 a.m.
