MONROE — Abby Wendel picked the perfect time to have her best outing.
The Jay County junior notched a season-high 14 kills as the Patriots swept Class 2A No. 4 Adams Central 25-20, 25-15, 29-27.
It was the 15th win of the season for Jay County, and its second victory over a ranked opponent. The Patriots out-dueled Class 3A No. 7 Wapahani on Sept. 4.
Jay County (15-2, 3-0 Allen County Athletic Conference) overcame an Adams Central rally in the third game to upset the reigning ACAC champion.
