AeroCat honored as bike friendly

AeroCat High Performance Bicycles, Portland, has been honored by the League of American Bicyclists with a Silver Bicycle Friendly Business Award.
AeroCat provides bike repair and custom painting, sponsors an amateur cycling team, and promotes recreational rides, tours, and races.
There are now more than 800 businesses, industries, and government agencies that have been recognized as bicycle friendly. Inman Insurance of Portland received a Bronze Bicycle Friendly Business Award in 2013.

Business workshop
East Central Indiana Small Business Development Center is offering two upcoming workshops focused on launching businesses.
Business adviser Tom Steiner will present “Launching Your Own Business” from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 3 at the Innovation Connector, 1208 W. White Rive Boulevard, Muncie, and from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 16 a the Richmond Innovation Center, 814 E. Main St.
Participants will learn to identify personal objectives, describe a business idea, develop a sales forecast and estimate an operating budget.
A $25 fee includes the cost of a workbook each participant can take home.

Red Gold donates
Red Gold, which has a plant in Geneva, plans to donate 42,000 pounds of tomato products to Gleaners Food Bank Tuesday in Indianapolis.
The donation is part of Red Gold’s sponsorship with the Indianapolis Colts Red Gold Red Zone program.
Since 2003, Red Gold and the Colts have been teaming up to encourage Hoosiers to donate to food banks.
Every time the Colts score in the Red Zone, inside the 20-yard line, during home games, the company donates Red Gold tomato products to Indianapolis area food pantries.
Since 2003, it has distributed more than 800,000 pounds of tomato product.

Intern joins staff
Saige Driver, a Ball State University senior, will serve as an intern with The Commercial Review this fall.
Driver, 21, is obtaining her bachelor’s degree in journalism and telecommunications with an emphasis in news. She writes for The Daily News, Ball State University’s student-run newspaper.
She also anchors for WCRD and NewsLink Indiana, Ball State University’s radio and television station.
Driver graduated from Fremont High School in 2012 with an academic honor’s degree.
She spends her free time reading, water skiing and scrolling through Pinterest.

Carder joins State of the Heart
Ashlee Carder, Minster, Ohio, is joining State of the Heart Hospice’s Coldwater office.
There is also an office in Portland.
Carder will be a music therapist and bereavement support specialist. She graduated from Ohio University and is a board certified music therapist.
