Humane Society event is Saturday
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
The Jay County Humane Society will be holding a soup cook-off Saturday at the 4-H building at Jay County Fairgrounds.
The event will begin at 10 a.m. when the vendors will be open for business and people can begin dropping off their soup entries. There will be a bouncy house provided so the kids attending can have a good time.
The deadline to enter your soup is 10:45 a.m. We ask that you bring a large roaster or two crock pots of soup so there will be enough for the public to vote on. Entrants will not be allowed to stand by their soup during the contest nor bring condiments. Crackers will be supplied. Entry forms are available at the humane society or can be filled out when you drop off your soup Saturday.
The tasting and voting for the soup begins at 10 a.m. and will close at 1 p.m. The cost of the meal is $5 per person and no charge for those 3 and younger. The meal will include tasting of all soups, crackers and drink of your choice, which will be hot tea, cold tea, coffee or water. Desserts will be available at an additional cost of $1.
Voting will be announced before the auction begins at 1:30 p.m. Mel and Laci Smitley are the auctioneers.
We invite the public to participate in and attend the event to help support the humane society.
Sincerely,
Sharon Van Steenis
