Make a visit to farmers' market
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
The Portland Farmers’ Market is an amazing event this year.
In the 71 combined years of gardening by the two of us there has never been a worse year for growing vegetables in our home gardens thanks to an excess of rainfall and varmints.
If you have visited the Farmers’ Market at Jay County Courthouse on Saturday mornings this summer you know that there are some local “super-gardeners” who have managed to bring melons, sweet corn, green beans, zucchini, onions and tomatoes to market.
In addition, a weekly supply of baked goods, eggs and crafts add to what is available.
We encourage your support of the Farmers’ Market and hope to see you there each Saturday.
