Kegan Comer was ready for the big stage.
Playing Wednesday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis less than an hour after the Indiana Pacers left the court after falling to the Sacramento Kings, the 2013 Jay County High School graduate racked up 20 points for the University of St. Francis men’s basketball team. He also led the NAIA Division II No. 17 Cougars in assists as they won their sixth straight game 69-60 over 25th-ranked Indiana University East.
Comer missed his first shot after the tip-off at 10:11 p.m., but buried a 3-pointer on the next possession. He went on to finish 3-for-4 from long distance on the way to his game-high scoring effort.
He added five assists for St. Francis, which improved to 11-3. He also had seven rebounds, second-most on the squad, and came away with a pair of steals.
Comer leads the Cougars in scoring at 13.6 points per game and is 43rd in the nation with 53 assists this season.
