JCC offers thanks, asks for support

Letters to the Editor

To the editor:
It’s hard to believe that another successful year has passed at the Jay Community Center as we begin our 2015-16 Annual Sustaining Campaign.
At this time a little over a year ago, I had just finished writing a letter thanking our donors for helping us meet 92 percent of our fundraising goal. I want to thank our 2014-15 donors for outdoing themselves to help us raise over $51,000 this past year.
This year’s campaign kicked off July 1, and thus far our cornerstone donors have already helped us raise over $15,000 of our $55,000 goal. Each donation helps with utility costs so that Jay County residents can use our facilities without paying a fee at the door, more than 12,000 senior citizen can visit our low-cost senior fitness classes and recreational activities, 200-plus local youth can be a part of the Jay County Boys and Girls Club program that takes place four days a week during the school year, 100-plus boys and girls can participate in the 10-week summer day camp that takes place five days a week in the summer and more than 1,000 local youth and be a part of affordable Boomer youth sports such as soccer, flag football, basketball, volleyball and tee-ball.
Unlike many non-profits, the Jay Community Center does not receive any state or local tax money that means private donations help us immensely. We truly appreciate our donors’ past generous support, and we would like to ask the community to consider contributing to our 2015-16 annual campaign this year.
Please help us in continuing to make a positive difference in the lives of youth, adults and seniors in the community with free and affordable activities and programming.

Sincerely,
Nathan Helm
Director of Development
Jay Community Center
