Jay County’s confined feeding study commission gave its recommendations to Jay County Plan Commission at its meeting Thursday, but did not present those recommendations to the public.
While they did ask questions about a handful of details in the recommendations, the plan commission members decided to wait to discuss the full list of suggestions publicly until they had time to review them. Part of the recommendation packet was not complete until Thursday.
Among the recommendations are numbers defining an “intensive livestock operation,” shared liability between operation and livestock owners, a “shelterbelt” of earth, shrubs and trees, and a variety of setbacks and fees.
