Fort Recovery Village Council

Fort Recovery Village Council met the village’s new grants administrator at its meeting Monday night.
“I just want to appreciate the opportunity to come on board and help out the town,” Erin Minor said in introducing herself. “I just hope that I can add a little something and bring some new opportunities to the town.”
The council also heard various updates from village administrator Randy Diller.
The village purchased property at the corner of Center Street and Elm Road (Ohio 49) for $28,100 at a sheriff’s sale. A house there that has been vacant for several years will be torn down, making that intersection safer by improving visibility, Diller said.
The new parking lot at Community Park has been completed at a final cost of $127,303.
The village is looking to purchase two trucks, one for the street department and one for the utility department, replacing vehicles those departments have now. The state bid price is about $20,000 per vehicle. Diller will check with Les Wenning Motors in Fort Recovery to see if he can get a good price locally.
Bids for the street overlay project will be opened Wednesday morning. The project includes work on First, Railroad, Boundary, Broadway, Oak, Third, High and Wagner streets and must be completed by October.
Monday’s meeting included a public hearing on the 2016 budget, but no members of the public came to comment.
The budget will be voted on at council’s July 6 meeting.
