Join in Jay's 4th celebration

Letters to the Editor

To the editor:
It’s hard to believe that the 4th of July is just around the corner.
The Jay County 4th of July Community would like to welcome everyone and would encourage everyone to participate in the 4th of July event that is taking place at Jay County Fairgrounds after the parade. The opening ceremony, which includes the raising of the flag, is at 1 p.m.
Anyone interested in being in the parade should line up in the East Jay Middle School parking lot using the entrance off of Wayne Street. The parade starts at 11 a.m., and line up for the parade will begin at 10 a.m.
Please note:
1) After 10 a.m., no one will be able to drop off or pick up at the Meridian Street entrance to the East Jay Middle School parking lot. That exit will be blocked at that time.
2) Once you are in the parking lot, there is no available exit until the parade line-up is released and all participants have been removed from the East Jay Middle School Parking lot.
Due to the temporary closing of Water Street, traffic on Wayne Street will be very busy and very congested. Please have patience with each other and please be kind. This is a day of celebration, and the Jay County 4th of July Committee would like for everyone to have a great time.
If you have any questions about the parade, please call (260) 726-2210. If there is no answer, please leave a message and phone number. Somebody will be in contact with you within 24 hours.
Sincerely,
George Patterson
President
Jay County 4th of July Committee
