Update: Meridian remains closed
Water levels rose in downtown Portland into the early afternoon today.
Meridian Street remained closed between Main and Race streets as much of that area was covered in water. It closed shortly after 5 a.m. today.
There is flooding on roads throughout the county. Emergency crews were called to help a vehicle that was stranded in high water on Ind. 1 north of county road 200 South.
Local law enforcement officials have asked drivers to turn around rather than risk driving through high water.
