Areas of downtown Portland remained flooded Saturday evening, but the water is receding.
Water levels have dropped since 5 p.m., but much of Meridian Street between Walnut and Race streets remained flooded as of 9:30 p.m. The street remains closed, but Portland police said they hope to be able to open it sometime overnight.
Many of the side streets in the downtown area are also under water.
Law enforcement officials remind drivers not to attempt to drive through high water.
