The Trace Adkins concert scheduled for July 8 during the Jay County Fair has been postponed.
Because of wet weather throughout June and an uncertain forecast for next week, Adkins will not be performing during the fair.
Hunter Smith Band, which was scheduled to open for Adkins, will put on a concert at 8 p.m. July 8 on a smaller stage than would have been needed for Adkins. Grandstand tickets for that concert will be free.
Savannah Jack will perform as scheduled on the same stage July 9.
The Adkins concert has been rescheduled for Aug. 14, with Smith's band returning as the opening act.
The conditions of the fairgrounds combined with the heavy stage and the buses and semis involved with the Adkins show led to the decision to cancel, said Jay County Fair Board president Rob Weaver this afternoon.

“The grounds conditions are not just right to have people on the infield there," said Weaver. “We just didn’t want to do it, but regretfully we decided to go ahead and move it.”
All other fair events and activities are expected to go on as scheduled.
Tickets already purchased for the show will be honored on the rescheduled date. Those unable to make the Aug. 14 show can receive a refund.
