Thank you for competition help
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
On March 2, the Jay County High School academic team hosted the Eastern Indiana Academic League conference meet.
Seventeen schools from the area visited JCHS for this competition. The hosting school not only provides the space for the competition, along with all the necessary equipment, but also feeds all students, teachers and bus drivers.
From the early planning stages of the event to the final minutes of the competition, it was very apparent in what a wonderful school and community we work and live.
Karmella VanSkyock, food service director for Jay School Corporation, helped us plan the meal, encouraged us to get donations and volunteered her own time to make chili for 500 people and assure that everyone was fed and the kitchen was cleaned up.
Red Gold, Fishers, Adair Processing, Walmart, Coca Cola and Mainstreet Market, along with Connie Aker and her father, Richard Houser, donated key ingredients for the chili to keep costs to a minimum. Parents and teacher colleagues baked and donated desserts, and they also donated their time to serve meals, clean up the kitchen and run the competition.
In the name of the academic team and its coaches, I would like to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to everyone who had a part in making this event such a great success.
Sincerely,
Anni McClung
JCHS German teacher and academic coordinator
