Thanks for help with state judo event

To the editor:
With the help of the Jay County community our annual tournament, 2015 Indiana State Championships and Virgil Bowels Kata Championships, was a big success.
We had over 400 entries from 54 clubs representing eight states and Canada. It could not be possible without the community.
Thank you to our students and parents who worked countless hours on planning, setup, day of and tear down of the event. It was a very long day.
Special thanks to Ryan Hirschy, Christian artist, for singing our national anthem and with only a week’s notice the Canadian national anthem; Portland Mayor Randy Geeseman for attending and addressing the crowd; Dr. Oakland Gearke and Dr. Michael Jobe for donating their services to athletes and coaches; Jay School Corporation for use of the high school and Rodney Bye for making sure we had what we needed to run the event.
