There's still time to help

To the editor:
Last July the Portland Water Park Fundraising Committee was formed and charged with the task of raising $1 million toward the cost of a new pool.
At the time we weren’t sure our goal was attainable, but this amazing community came together to reach and exceed our goal.
We are proud to announce that, to date, $1,181,268 has been pledged. Thank you to the many individuals, businesses, service groups, foundations and government entities that gave generously to this community project. On April 23 the groundbreaking for the new water park took place.
Although we have reached our goal, there will be substantial additional expense, and it is not too late to still be a part of this exciting project. If you have not already pledged, you can do so by stopping in or mailing your pledge to The Portland Foundation at 112 E. Main Street. Pledges must be paid by Dec. 31, and all who contribute by that date will be recognized on a donor board located at the entrance to the pool.
Again, thank you for your part in helping to make Portland and Jay County a great place to live.
