Governor is not in touch
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
In a recent Indianapolis Star headline, I read where Indiana Gov. Mike Pence has formally signed a bill that basically strips Glenda Ritz of most, if not all, of her power as a duly elected official of the state.
This is rather alarming.
It is hard to believe that this is the same guy that I personally met and assisted, when he was our U.S. Congressman to distribute well-deserved French government Legion Of Merit Medals to old World War II veterans in our district. At that time, I personally met with him and his staff, and knew him to be pretty in tune with the wants and needs of his district.
There must be something in the water in the governor’s mansion. This guy has morphed into a governor that is either out of touch with, or worse yet, totally indifferent to, the wishes of the majority of his constituency. It really is quite a remarkable transformation in a relatively short time.
To all of the rabid Pence haters out there who hate just for the sake of hating, I can personally vouch for him, at one time, having his heart and actions in a place that was well in line with the wishes of his district. As governor, it is becoming increasingly apparent to me that I have no earthly idea what has happened to him, but it is safe to say, he is no longer the man I once knew.
This action, and a few other recent missteps prove to me that he has lost touch with the majority of Hoosiers.
