Humane Society offers community thanks

Letter to the editor

To the editor:
The Jay County Humane Society would like to say thanks to everyone involved in making our soup cook-off on April 18 a great success.
Thanks to Ohio Valley Gas and Williamson, Spencer & Penrod Funeral Home for their sponsorships. And thanks to Jay County REMC, Portland Veterinary Clinic, Jay Community Center, Patriot Sportswear, Sharlette’s Fudgery & Candies, Medler’s Furniture, Cook’s Nursery, Clear Choice Chiropractic, Country Creek Primitives, A Cut Above, Raymond James & Associates, Inc., Steve McClung, Gibson’s Furry Creations, KSAP – Mike Keller, Original Primitives, True Value, Massage Therapy Center, Closet Update, Buffalo Rings & Wings and the many people who donated great items to the auction.
Thank you to Bickel’s Equipment Rental for the donation of the bouncy house, all the volunteers who helped set up and tear down, hung posters and flyers, got donations, worked the event, donated desserts and drinks and tended to shelter dogs. Thank you also to the vendors, and all those who attended and entered their great soups.
Thanks to Mel Smitley’s Real Estate & Auctioneering for the time you donate to make our auction a success every year.

Congratulations to the soup winners: Julie McGraw – first place; Shae Root – second place; and Ruby Imel – third place.
If I have forgotten to mention someone or a business, I’m sorry, but this is how blessed the humane society is to have so many wanting to help support, donate and volunteer in helping the homeless animals of Jay County.
