Portland Mayor Randy Geesaman overwhelmingly earned a second term in Tuesday’s election, defeating Republican challenger Milo Miller Jr. by a margin of more than 2-to-1.
Meanwhile, Dunkirk opted for a new mayor as Republican Gene Ritter defeated incumbent Democrat Dan Watson in a rematch of the 2011 general election.
Another incumbent was ousted in Portland’s race for clerk-treasurer as Democrat Lori Aker Ferguson topped Republican Mickey Scott, who was seeking a second term.
Other winners in contested races Tuesday were Republicans Bill Gibson (Portand City Council district 1), Janet Powers (Portland City Council at-large), Krista M. Scholer (Pennville clerk-treasurer) and David Dudelston (Redkey Town Council); Democrats Judy Aker (Portland City Council at-large), Doug Stanley (Redkey Town Council), Ted Friddle (Redkey Town Council) and Donald M. Shauver (Salamonia Town Board); and independents Karen Keen (Salamonia Town Board) and Tyler Smith (Salamonia Town Board).
