Sawyer Miller left South Adams with the most victories in program history.
He continued his winning ways at the next level.
Miller made his collegiate debut Saturday for the NAIA third-ranked Indiana Tech wrestling team and he was one of four Warriors to earn titles in the Patriot Open hosted by University of the Cumberlands.
The 2015 SAHS graduate and three-time Indiana state medalist needed just 2 minutes, six seconds, to win his 125-pound opening round match, then destroyed Timothy Randolph of Life University by an 18-3 tech fall in the second round.
Miller (5-0) then won by pin in 2:40 during his quarterfinal match, then pinned Jake Burroughs of Lindsey Wilson in 1:44 to reach the finals. James Flint, also of Lindsey Wilson, was the only wrestler to last a full six minutes with Miller, who claimed the title with a 7-4 decision.

Katy Smeltzer
Jay County – 2015
Helped a pair of relay victories for the University of the Cumberlands women’s swim team Saturday in a victory at West Virginia Institute of Technology.
The visiting Patriots dominated, 128-56.
Smeltzer swam the freestyle leg of the 200-yard medley relay, joining Brittany Litke, Victoria Tornelli and Morgan Plowman to finish in 1 minute, 52.96. The freshman had a split of 25.22 seconds.
She then swam the third leg of the 200-yard freestyle, teaming with Anna Clayton, Christina Klouda and Blandine Tantart for a time of 1:43.01. Smeltzer’s split was 26.53 seconds.
The former Jay County Patriot also placed third in the 200 butterfly in 2:29.15.

Eme Miller
Jay County – 2012
Finished as the runner-up Saturday for the Defiance College women’s cross country team at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Franklin.
Miller, who became the first runner in Yellowjacket history to earn All-HCAC honors three times, finished in 22 minutes, 21.1 seconds. She was less than seven seconds behind conference champion Mariah Jordan of Manchester in the 6K race.

Kegan Comer
Jay County – 2013
Led the NAIA Division II No. 4 University of St. Francis men’s basketball team in scoring Saturday in its 68-56 loss to Cincinnati Christian.
Comer tallied 13 points for the Cougars, who slipped to 1-1 on the season. He also had two assists and two rebounds.
The junior finished with 10 points, four rebounds and a steal Oct. 30 as St. Francis opened its season by topping Madonna 89-75.
Kelsey Fiely
Fort Recovery – 2013
Led the defensive effort Wednesday in the University of Northwestern Ohio volleyball team’s 25-19, 25-17, 25-15 loss to Cornerstone.
Fiely came off the bench and recorded 10 digs to pace the Racers (14-22). Her 209 digs this season rank third on the team.
The junior also had six digs Saturday in a 25-13, 25-19, 25-22 victory over Michigan-Dearborn, and added four digs in a three-set loss to 18th-ranked Lourdes.

Cady Farlow
South Adams – 2015
Had a pair of fifth-place finishes for the Purdue University women’s swim team Saturday as it beat both Notre Dame and Ohio State.
Farlow was fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:04.92. Her teammates Emily Fogle, Caroline Weigand and Annie Spaulding swept the top three spots. Fogle had a time of 1:01.63.

Farlow, a freshman, was also fifth in the 200 breaststroke in 2:19.31. Fogle won that race as well in 2:15.4.
The Boilermakers defeated the Irish 169-123, and topped the Buckeyes 167-133.

Scott Schwieterman
Jay County – 2013
Has returned from a hip injury to help the Indiana Tech men’s basketball team to a 2-0 start.
Schwieterman has made the most of his time on the court early in the season, totaling eight points, three rebounds and a block Wednesday in just 10 minutes of play in a 96-66 victory over Roosevelt. He had five points, seven rebounds, a block and an assist in nine minutes as the Warriors topped Wilberforce 91-79 Friday.

Jason Pottkotter
Fort Recovery – 2012
Served as the lead distributor Wednesday as the University of Northwestern Ohio men’s basketball team clobbered Simmons College of Kentucky 111-62.
Pottkotter played 22 minutes off the bench, leading the Racers (1-1) with six assists. He also had four rebounds and a steal.
The senior recorded six points, three steals and two rebounds in UNOH’s season-opening loss Saturday to Shawnee State.

Kylie Kahlig
Fort Recovery – 2012
Scored seven points off the bench as she returned from a torn ACL as the University of Northwestern Ohio women’s basketball team opened its season Saturday against West Virginia Institute of Technology.
Kahlig shot 2-of-3 from the field with a 3-pointer and made both of her free throws in a 75-49 loss to WVU Tech, and also notched six rebounds and a steal. She had four points, two rebounds and an assist Wednesday as the Racers (1-1) topped Cincinnati Christian 65-41.

Catherine Dunn
Jay County – 2015
Made her collegiate debut Monday for the Brescia University women’s basketball team in its 115-97 victory against St. Mary of the Woods.
Dunn had two points, six rebounds and a pair of assists for the Bearcats (1-0). She was 1-of-6 from the field and missed her only 3-point attempt. The freshman grabbed three offensive and three defensive rebounds.

Elle Sutter
Fort Recovery – 2014
Ran for the Ohio Northern women’s cross country team Saturday at the OAC Championships.
The sophomore finished 51st overall on the 6K course in 24 minutes, 32.6 seconds. The Polar Bears were fourth out of 10 teams with 78 points.
Classmate Emily Richards claimed the individual title in 21:56.7. Sutter was eighth on the team.

Cassidy Rammel
Fort Recovery – 2015
Finished third on the squad with six kills for the University of Saint Francis volleyball team in a three-set sweep Saturday at Spring Arbor (Michigan).
She also had two digs and assisted on a block for the Cougars (12-22, 7-11), who beat Spring Arbor 25-22, 25-20, 25-18. Rammel also had three kills, two blocks, one dig and one assist Friday in a four-set win against Marian.
