Portland City Council approved appropriating $268,105 to pay the expenses left for Portland Water Park. The city previously agreed to pay $2.25 million for the project, with the rest to come from private donations.
Those donations have been enough to cover the remaining construction costs, but so far have fallen short of the project total of $3.585 million, including engineering and design.
Mayor Randy Geesaman noted that about $55,000 in donations, which would lower extra amount the city would have to pay, have yet to come in.
