Residents need more assistance

To the editor:
I’m glad to see that the mayor and the commissioners are thinking about the Salamonie River.
I see they dredged a little on Seventh Street. What about the rest of the river in town?
They want to clean up the building fronts. This won’t stop the next flood.
The east side of Meridian Street needs help. The last three floods ruined my son’s foundation, his floors, his kitchen cabinets.
No one helped him. Insurance would not pay.
There are a lot of people in Portland that should have received help.
