JCHS grad Miller third at Otterbein

Collegiate Check-up

Third seems to be Eme Miller’s spot.
The 2012 Jay County High School graduate placed third for the second week in a row Saturday as she led the Defiance College women’s cross country team at the Otterbein Invitational. Elle Sutter, a 2014 Fort Recovery graduate, also competed at the event for the Ohio Northern junior varsity team.
Miller cut her time by more than a minute after also placing third Sept. 12 at Franklin College. She finished the 6K race in 22 minutes, 23.9 seconds, trailing only Claire Lamb (21:58.8) of the host Cardinals and Melanie Ruich (22:09) of Findlay.
Her time at Franklin was 23:41.13.
Sutter finished in 55th for the ONU junior varsity team with a time of 25:13 seconds, helping the Polar Bears to a team score of 307. Ohio Northern was 11th out of 15 teams.

Eric Hemmelgarn
Jay County – 2014

Played in the third consecutive game for the University of Saint Francis football team in a 45-3 homecoming victory Saturday against Trinity International.
The redshirt freshman had one tackle for the NAIA No. 17 Cougars (3-0), who have since moved up three spots to No. 14.
Hemmelgarn has seven tackles and two tackles for a loss this season.

Hannah Moore
