The weather is getting warmer.
So is Collin Affolder’s bat.
Affolder, a 2014 South Adams High School graduate, posted career highs in doubles and RBIs for the Bethel College baseball team in an 11-8 loss Monday to Grace College in the first game of a doubleheader.
The sophomore was 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and six RBIs. He smacked a two-run double to left field in the second inning, followed it up with a bases-clearing double in the fourth and added a sacrifice fly in the fifth. He also had an infield single during the seventh inning.
His three hits on the day tied a career-high.
He then went hitless in the second game, a 1-0 victory in nine innings.
Affolder has a .241 batting average with three doubles, one home run and 10 RBIs in 26 games for the Pilots (8-18, 5-5 Crossroads League).

Scored a run for the Goshen College baseball team April 7 in an 11-5 loss to Taylor University.
He reached base on an error in the top of the seventh inning and came around to score on a double by Ryan Hartig.
The freshman has appeared in 12 games for the Maple Leafs (14-26, 6-8 CL). He has one hit, one walk and four runs in nine at bats.
