Permits hit $2.1 million
Building permits
A pair of new homes and a turkey confined feeding building topped the list of building permits issued in July.
The Jay/Portland Building and Planning office issued 43 permits for a total of more than $2.1 million in construction last month, the largest of which was for a new home.
Jim Lochtefeld, 7900 E. 800 South, was issued a permit for a $450,000 home. The other permit that cleared the $400,000 mark was to Lance Muhlenkamp for a $415,00 turkey confined feeding building at 3497 N. 550 East.
Permits for $100,000 or more included one for a $325,000 new home and barn to Brad Dues at 4050 S. 300 East, a $225,000 drying room at Sonoco, 1619 N. Meridian St., Portland, a $120,000 swine confined feeding building to Joseph J. Schwartz at 7727 N. 250 East, Bryant, a $120,000 modular home to Gary L. Weaver at 5577 N. 250 West and a $12,000 residential addition to Greg and Kim Ball at 9170 W. 500 South.
Other permits were issued to David D. Graber, 3884 N 350 West for a $22,000 barn; Double D Ag Enterprises, 7159 W Indiana 26, for a $35,000 pole building; William B Schwartz, 7861 N. 250 East, for a $10,000 barn addition; Doug and Karen Hemmelgarn, 3641 E. 125 South for a $40,000 compost building; Brian Devoss, 6383 S.
