Some businesses showed disrespect

Letters to the Editor

To the editor:

We would like to take this time to say that Portland had a very nice Parade of Lights on Dec. 3.

Several people put a lot of time into getting their floats ready.

We are sad to say that some of the local business places didn’t show a lot of respect for the parade by not turning out their lights. Were they afraid that they would lose an almighty dollar?

We were parked at Arby’s. They turned off all their lights. So did McDonald’s, Family Dollar, Ponderosa, True Value and Pizza Hut.

To us, that shows they have respect for others and are not afraid of missing a little money. These places were also full of customers.

I will think long and hard prior to stopping at the places that did not turn their lights out.

They must not have much pride in Portland.

Thanks for a chance to voice our thoughts about these not so nice businesses.
