Thanks for helping to honor Mandy

Letters to the Editor

To the editor:
Amazing.
That describes the first annual benefit honoring Mandy Theurer, who died last year in an auto accident.
The benefit was held to remember and honor Mandy by raising money to help people through various organizations, including but not limited to Jay County Cancer Society’s Mandy Blessings, which provides an opportunity to “pamper” cancer patients and survivors; Mandy Bags, an effort to supply hygiene bags to middle school girls, spearheaded by Delta Theta Tau sorority; and a scholarship to be given to a Jay County High School senior entering the cosmetology field.
First of all, we want to thank anyone and everyone who had a hand in making this event such a success. It would be impossible to list all those involved, and we wouldn’t want to leave anyone out. Your help was so appreciated.
A big thank you to Kyle Cook and the staff of Jay Community Center, Travis Theurer and Loy Auctioneering for their services, Delta Theta Tau sorority for lending its support and expertise to the event, Lori Bantz and EP Graphics for donating the dinner tickets, Tony Lennartz for the bounce house and popcorn machine, Heather Sorg for the wonderful hand massages and The IVB Band for playing their fabulous music.
To Kay and Nick Alexander, with the help of their family, thank you for preparing the delicious meal to serve 400 people and having it run so smoothly. It was so good.
A special thank you to Sharon Beeler, Becki Rigby, Tammy Bogenschutz, Josh Stewart and Dustin Robbins for the support and love shown to our family while planning this event. We couldn’t have done it without you.

Last but not least, we thank you, the community, for the support you gave by buying a meal ticket, bracelet, shirt or window decal, by donating or purchasing an item from the auction, by giving money or saying a kind word in support and encouragement of what we were doing. Your generosity will help so many people, and we thank you.
In closing, thank you to Mandy’s friends who were able to attend, who talked, laughed and cried in remembrance of Mandy. While we couldn’t see her, she was there with us, and she smiled.
So, with the first benefit behind us, we look forward to the next one, next year.
With heartfelt thanks and gratitude,
Charlene and Roger Theurer
