The Jay County High School girls basketball team survived a late run Saturday by Fort Recovery to hold on for a 56-51 victory in the battle of state-line rivals.
The Patriots (12-2) led by as many as 11 in the fourth quarter before the Tribe closed to within two twice in the final minute. Taylor Homan and Abby Wendel (16 points) combined to hit 5-of-6 free throws in the final 24.1 seconds to seal the win.
Grace Thien matched Wendel with 16 points for the Indians.
