After a 16-day layoff, the Patriots edged the Mississinewa Indians 46-45 when Scott “Scooter” Bruggeman grabbed an offensive rebound off of a John Retter miss, was fouled and hit a pair of free throws with 5.5 seconds left. Retter then stripped the ball away from the Indians’ Ryan Shell, who was driving to the basket for a potential game-winning layup.
Tyler Rigby hit four 3-pointers and led the Patriots with 18 points.

Senior Randy Evans was on fire early, hitting his first four 3-point attempts on the way to a career-high 24 points as he powered Jay County to a 71-62 victory over the Muncie Southside Rebels.
The Patriots, whose 7-1 start at the time was the best in school history, went 6-of-7 from long distance in the first quarter to take control.
Zac Green made every shot he took — seven field goals and a free throw — to follow Evans with 16 points.
The win was the first regular-season for JCHS over the Rebels since 1992.
