May ’16 be full of shared blessings
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
As we move into another year at the Youth Service Bureau, I think of all the blessings we have been graced with throughout the year.
Before we list all the blessings, we find ourselves looking at what was difficult, or what could have been done differently, or what we should have done that we failed to do. Maybe we do this in order to determine the needed improvements and to provide us the incentive to do better in the New Year.
Regardless, it is vital we review the blessings in order to determine the goals we set for the New Year. It is through the blessings, we find hope.
Therefore, I share with you a few of our blessings:
•you who keep us in prayer daily and God who provides us grace and blessings everyday.
•you who believe in our mission and provide the needed gifts of in kind and monetary.
•the health and safety of staff.
•the wisdom and experience of seasoned staff.
•the less experienced staff members who wish to begin their professional career with us.
•the families of staff persons who support our work and understand their loved one’s commitment to this type of work.
•the children, youth and families who work so diligently to achieve their goals.
•the children, youth and families who challenge us and strengthen our reserve.
•the community — school personnel, Department of Child Services, Probation Officers and the judges who provide us the opportunity to work with children, youth and families and believe in our work.
My list is short on paper but infinite in my heart. As sweetly stated in the movie Hope Floats: “my cup runneth over.”
My hope and prayer is in this new year, may all our cups continue to runneth over and we share with thankful hearts our blessings with others daily.
With a grateful and warm heart,
