The 2015-16 basketball season marks the 10-year anniversary of the Jay County High School boys team making a run to the 2006 Class 3A state championship game. This is the fifth in a series of weekly looks back at that season.

Jan. 13, 2006
The Patriots were overmatched.
Travelling to Connersville to take on the Class 3A No. 4 Spartans, Jay County couldn’t get much to go its way in a 68-49 loss.
JCHS finished 0-for-9 from 3-point range in the first half, scored just three points in the second quarter and gave up 30 points in the third quarter as the Spartans opened the second half on a 15-2 run. Chris Bloom racked up 28 points for Connersville, and Matt Howard, who went on to play for Butler University, added 18.
Zac Green led the Patriots with 12 points.

Jan. 14, 2006
Despite missing two seniors — one because of injury and another because of a suspension — Jay County bounced back from its 19-point loss for a 57-28 victory over Northeastern.
The Patriots took control immediately, starting the game with a 10-0 run. They were up by 14 at the half and then shut out the host Knights in the third quarter.
Corey Comer paced JCHS with 14 points, and Randy Evans and Scott “Scooter” Bruggeman added 13 apiece.
