Remembering the run VI

By RAY COONEY
President, editor and publisher

The 2015-16 basketball season marks the 10-year anniversary of the Jay County High School boys team making a run to the 2006 Class 3A state championship game. This is the sixth in a series of weekly looks back at that season.

Jan. 20, 2006
Jay County turned a close game into a blowout with a pair of double-digit runs in the second half that vaulted it to a 57-38 victory over Winchester.
The Patriots (9-2) trailed by five early in the third quarter before a 12-0 run put them ahead for good. They added a 13-0 run in a span of less than two minutes in the fourth quarter to put the game away.
Randy Evans hit three of his four 3-pointers in the second half to lead four JCHS players in double figures with 16 points. Tyler Rigby scored 13 points, John Retter had 12 and Scott “Scooter” Bruggeman finished with 11.
