Senselessness seems endless

To the editor:
While returning from a work trip to Houston last weekend, it was impossible to miss noticing two things along the journey.
One, practically every flag was being flown at half staff.
Two, law enforcement vehicles from all over the United States were on the highways returning from recent funerals for slain officers in Dallas.
On the way down to Houston, I drove right past the Airline Highway exit on Interstate 12 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. While I was taking a different route home, more police officers were being ambushed and murdered literally within sight of the road I’d just passed by mere days before in Baton Rouge.
I guess if this keeps up, we’ll need to just permanently affix our flags in the half-staff position. Seemingly there’s no end to this senselessness.
