Wooten would fix Indiana DOE

Letters to the Editor

To the editor:
I enthusiastically support Dawn Wooten in her bid for state superintendent of public instruction.
I heard Dawn speak recently, and was thoroughly impressed with her enthusiasm, her willingness to serve, her knowledge, qualifications, and preparation for the office she seeks and her thoughtful plan for positive changes that she would implement if elected.
Dawn has done her homework and will hit the ground running with three priorities that she will work for starting on day one, when she will begin work to remove all federal funding and the strings and federal government meddling that come with it from the department of education budget. She will begin the effort to replace ISTEP with a sensible testing system, and to remove Common Core standards.
Dawn is committed to returning teacher autonomy to the classrooms so that teachers can teach, and will work to reinstitute reasonable discipline for improper student behavior.

Dawn will reorganize the state department of education to eliminate redundant departments, bloated salaries and superfluous staff in order to bring efficiency and fiscal responsibility to the DOE.
Dawn will audit the current budget, because Indiana families deserve to know where their tax dollars have gone and how much has been wasted during the current administration. Dawn will also request an audit of every Indiana school district to identify fraud or wasteful spending.
Yes, I’m rootin’ for Wooten. Visit www.dawnwooten2016.com, and you’ll be rootin’ for Wooten too.
