Replacing box can be costly
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
On the morning of May 5 between 8 a.m. and noon, someone hit our blocks that were on a steel post that was put up to protect our mailbox from being hit again.
The mail in the box that was forced open flew out and was found in the side ditch.
This is the second time in a month that someone has hit the post and forced the blocks against the mailbox. No doubt it was a semi or other large truck and should have some damage on the passenger side. Unless you have a zero deductible on your homeowners insurance, the owners have to pay for a new mailbox themselves and replacing them several times adds up.
