Thank you for police academy
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
We wish to thank Chief Nathan Springer and Portland Police Department for the 2016 Portland Citizens Police Academy.
Graduation was held Oct. 27 for 16 participants who went through the class. Graduates also learned about the new neighborhood watch program and saw two new police reserve officers be sworn in.
We wish to thank the Portland Citizens Police Academy Alumni, who provided dinner prior to the graduation ceremony. As alumni ourselves, we would encourage any individual who wants to learn more about our police department to attend the academy. This experience gives you a chance to interact with our officers and provides first-hand information on the role of law enforcement in our community.
If you would like to learn more or attend the next Portland Citizens Police Academy, we encourage you to contact Chief Springer at the police department.
Respectfully,
Karen Ward
and Lisa Arnold
