Fort Recovery approves levies
FORT RECOVERY —- Village residents overwhelmingly voted Tuesday to renew two tax levies that will go toward street repairs and general expenses.
On a 0.25-mill, five-year levy for street repairs, 504 voters were in favor of renewal with 215 voting against the measure, according to Mercer County Board of Elections. A 0.23-mill levy for general fund expenses saw similar results with 482 voting for renewal and 226 against.
According to the ballot language, each levy will last five years, commencing in 2017 and will be first due in 2018.
The two levies bring in around $60,000 and $56,000 per year respectively.
Prior to Tuesday’s election, village administrator Randy Diller said the measures had received strong support in the past.
“We’ve been very fortunate here in Fort Recovery over the years,” Diller said. “We’ve had a lot of public support for the programs and projects we’re trying to get down and hopefully people can see it.”
