Dealing
A Portland man was sentenced recently in Jay Circuit Court on a drug charge.
Van E. Guntle, 48, previously found guilty of dealing in a narcotic drug, a Level 4 felony, was sentenced to six years in Indiana Department of Correction with three years suspended.
He was given credit for time served from the date of his arrest on March 3 to March 4 and assessed court costs of $183. Guntle is ordered to pay a $200 drug abuse, prosecution, interdiction and correction fee. He is also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $348 for the benefit of Jay County Sheriff’s Office. Guntle was placed on formal probation for three years, following his release from the department of correction.
Possession
A Portland man was sentenced recently in Jay Superior Court on a drug charge.
Eric A. Shultz, 33, pleaded guilty to possession of a narcotic drug, a Level 6 felony. He was sentenced Oct. 12 to one year in Jay County Jail with all but 90 days suspended. He was given eight days credit for four days already served and assessed court costs of $183.
Shultz was ordered to pay a drug abuse, prosecution, interdiction and correction fee of $200 as well as pay $400 for Jay Superior Court Substance Abuse program. As part of the plea agreement, a charge of driving while suspended was dismissed. He was placed on formal probation for nine months.
