Much of what the Fort Recovery High School volleyball team was able to do offensively went through setter Kirsten Jutte.
The same is becoming true for the Capital University Crusaders.
Jutte, a 2016 FRHS graduate, set a career-high 41 assists Saturday in a 3-2 loss to Bluffton (25-23, 25-15, 18-25, 22-25, 15-9). It was five more than her previous career high set Sept. 3. Jutte also added sven digs, four kills and two blocks.
Earlier in the day, Jutte totaled 33 assists, five digs, four kills and a block assist in a 3-1 victory over Franciscan, 26-24, 25-17, 21-25, 25-16.
On Friday, the freshman setter tallied 19 assists in back-to-back matches, 3-0 losses to Wooster (25-21, 25-8, 25-22) and University of Pitt.-Bradford (25-18, 24-19, 25-21). Through the two matches she also had 12 digs and four kills.
Jutte has played in all 13 matches for the Crusaders (4-9), racking up 333 assists (25.6 per match) with 86 digs, 19 kills and 21 blocks.

Emi Minnich
Burris – 2016
Ran for the Moody Bible Institute women’s cross country team Sept. 10 in the Ken Weidt Classic in Mequon, Wisconsin.
Minnich finished 28th overall and third on her team with a time of 26 minutes, 2.9 seconds. She helped the Archers finish fifth with a score of 149. Host Concordia won with 35, and Concordia’s Nora Imperl was the race winner in 23:13.3.
The former Jay County Patriot made her collegiate debut Sept. 2 in the Elmhurst College Early Bird Invitational. She finished the 4K race in 16:59 for 27th place. MBI was fourth.

Cassidy Rammel
Fort Rec. – 2016
Had a team-high in kills during consecutive losses for the University of Saint Francis volleyball team.
Rammel had 11 kills and assisted on two blocks in a 3-0 loss to Huntington University on Friday, 25-18, 25-23, 25-9.
She then followed up that performance with 16 kills, one dig and assisted on two blocks for the Cougars (2-13, 1-6 Crossroads League) in a 3-2 loss Saturday to Grace College (19-25, 26-24, 25-18, 18-25, 15-12).

Derek Wanner
South Adams – 2015
Played for the Taylor University football team Saturday in a 27-14 loss to Butler University.
Wanner, a sophomore, assisted on one tackle in the fourth quarter. The defensive back teamed with Cameron Gray to bring down Duvante Lane after an 11-yard gain on first down.
Wanner has played in all four games for the Trojans (1-3) while recording one solo tackle and assisting on four others.

Kelsey Fiely
Fort Rec. – 2013
Finished second in digs Wednesday for the University of Northwestern Ohio in its 22-25, 25-22, 25-27, 27-25, 15-6 loss to Lawrence Tech.

Fiely started and totaled 11 digs for the Racers, who are now 9-11. She also had two aces and an assist.
The senior recorded eight digs apiece in losses Friday to Cornerstone and Saturday to Aquinas.

Aleesha Goodwin
South Adams – 2015
Ran for the Indiana Tech women’s cross country team Friday in the Indiana Intercollegiate meet at Indiana University.
Goodwin finished 60th overall and seventh on the team in 22:34.13.
The Warriors finished fifth with 141, and Depauw was the team champion with 49 points. Claudia Monnett of Depauw was the race winner in 19:17.23.

Gabbie Mann
Jay County – 2016
Played for the IPFW women’s soccer team as it split a pair of games this week, a 3-0 loss Friday to Bowling Green and a 2-0 victory Sunday over Tiffin.
Mann entered both games as a substitute, playing 35 minutes against Bowling Green and logging 27 minutes of playing time against Tiffin. She did not record a shot in either contest.

Julie Valentine
Jay County - 2013
Ran for the Stephens College women’s cross country team Saturday as it finished 10th in an 11-team field at the Maryville (Missouri) University Six Flags Open.
Valentine finished 94th overall. Of the Stars, she was the No. 6 runner on her team with a time of 27 minutes, 26.9 seconds, in the 5K race.

Morgan Lennartz
Fort Recovery – 2016
Appeared in a pair of sweeps for the IU-East volleyball team.
The freshman assisted on three blocks and had one kill Saturday in a win over Carlow University 25,19, 26-24, 25-18.
She also had two kills and one solo block Tuesday, helping the Red Wolves (8-9) defeat Earlham College, 25-14, 25-17, 25-18.
