Committee focused on quality care
To the editor:
The challenging nature of hospital finances was well explained in The Commercial Review beginning on March 23.
As highlighted, healthcare is rapidly evolving and the financial impact is great. Rural hospitals across the country face significant and unique pressures.
To find a sustainable path forward, we are exploring collaboration opportunities for JCH. We’ve formed a steering committee comprised of the JCH board, local physicians and local political leaders. Given the complexity of clinical and operational partnerships, a nationally recognized firm was hired to facilitate the process.
The steering committee has many meetings scheduled in the weeks and months ahead. While we will move quickly, we are committed to not rushing the process. There is no deadline for a final recommendation.
Significant work is ahead as the group implements a systematic process to gather and analyze the information needed for a thoughtful recommendation.
We would like to reiterate that we are considering all options for the future of healthcare in Jay County and no decisions, or recommendations, have been made at this time.
The steering committee is committed to the continued provision of local community healthcare and our decision making process will be firmly rooted in ensuring the continuity of our mission:
•To promote health and wellness in the communities we serve while providing access to the highest quality, compassionate and trusted care.
If collaboration is pursued, any potential partners must be willing to invest in our community, expand health services and bring additional clinical expertise to the area. As a community we must work together to stay healthy and keep healthcare costs down.
Thank you for your continued support of Jay County Hospital. The JCH medical staff, board of trustees and leadership team remain committed to improving the health of our community.
