Utility pole struck
A Hartford City man struck a utility pole with his vehicle Friday morning east of Portland.
Nicholas J. Riddle, 25, 406 E. Chestnut St., told Jay County Sheriff’s Office he was driving his 2017 Mercury Grand Marquis east on county road 300 North, just west of the intersection with county road 700 East, when he lost control after driving too fast.
The Grand Marquis ran off the north side of the road, striking a utility pole. Riddle was cited for speeding and driving without insurance.
