Syringe possession
A Bluffton man, Dunkirk woman and Ridgeville woman all pleaded guilty recently in Jay Superior Court to syringe possession charges.
Robert J. Donahoe, III, 25, 1315 W. Cherry St., Bluffton, pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony. He was sentenced to serve one year in Jay County Jail, with all but 211 days suspended and given 211 days credit for 111 days already served. He was also assessed $185 in court costs, ordered to pay a $400 Jay Superior Court Substance Abuse Program fee and was placed on formal probation for five months.
Brittany C. Franklin, 26, 802 S. Main St., Dunkirk, pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony. She was sentenced to serve two years in Jay County Jail, with all but 222 days suspended and given 222 days credit for 111 days already served. She was assessed $185 in court costs and placed on formal probation for 16 and one half months.
Sara N. Mills, 27, 617 N. Portland St., Ridgeville, pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony. She was sentenced to one year in Jay County Jail, with all but 20 days suspended and given 20 days credit for 10 days already served. She was assessed $185 in court costs and placed on formal probation for 11 months.
Perjury
A Berne man was sentenced after pleading guilty to perjury recently in Jay Superior Court.
Michael T. Wilhelm, 36, 166 Bryan St., Berne, pleaded guilty to perjury, a Level 6 felony. He was sentenced to 18 months in Jay County Jail and given 180 days credit for 90 days already served. He was assessed $185 in court costs.
Common nuisance
A Portland man pleaded guilty to maintaining a common nuisance recently in Jay Superior Court.
Sean A. Winget, 21, 124 ½ S. Pleasant St., Portland, pleaded guilty to maintaining a common nuisance-controlled substances, a Level 6 felony. He was sentenced to serve one year in Jay County Jail with all but four days suspended, and given four days credit for two days already served. He was fined $100, assessed $185 in court costs, ordered to pay a $400 Jay Superior Court Substance Abuse Program fee and was placed on formal probation for 12 months.
OWI
A Dunkirk man was sentenced recently in Jay Superior Court after pleading guilty to a felony-level operating while intoxicated charge.
Ryan E. Bracey, 29, 115 Selkirk Lane, Decatur, pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle while intoxicated, enhanced to a Level 6 felony. He was sentenced to 18 months in Jay County Jail, with all but 240 days suspended and given 228 days credit for 119 days already served. He was assessed $185.50 in court costs, and ordered to pay a $200 drug and alcohol countermeasures costs and a $400 Jay Superior Court Substance Abuse Program fee. He was placed on formal probation for 10 months and the court recommended that the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles suspend his license for one year.
Narcotic possession
A Bryant woman was sentenced recently in Jay Superior Court after pleading guilty to a narcotic possession charge.
Harlie S. Garringer, 19, 105 W. Elm St., Bryant, pleaded guilty to possession of a narcotic drug, a Level 6 felony. She was sentenced to 18 months in Jay County Jail, with all but 278 days suspended and given 278 days credit for 139 days already served. She was also assessed $185 in court costs, ordered to pay a $200 drug abuse, prosecution, interdiction and correction fee and a $400 Jay Superior Court Substance Abuse Program fee. She was placed on formal probation for 9 months.
Battery
An Anderson man was sentenced recently in two cases after pleading guilty to both in Jay Circuit Court.
Dusty K. Rowles, 35, 3114 Spring Drive, Anderson, pleaded guilty to battery against a public safety official, a Level 6 felony. He was sentenced to two years in Jay County Jail, and given credit for time served since Nov. 2, 2016. He was fined $1 and assessed $185 in court costs.
In a separate case, Rowles also pleaded guilty to burglary, a Level 4 felony. He was sentenced to 11 years in the Indiana Department of Correction. He was also fined $1 and assessed $185 in court costs.
