The Chiefs allowed just 15 points to the Bruins on Monday night.

Weitzel poured in 17 points, leading the East Jay Middle School seventh grade boys basketball team to a 50-15 victory over the Blackford Bruins.
The eighth grade team also won, 50-40.
East Jay’s seventh graders (5-2) got six points each from Carter Link, Simon Dirksen and Brady Davis. Pete Muhlenkamp chipped in four points, and Connor McFarland contributed three points.
Ethan Dirksen led the charge for the eighth grade squad (6-1) with a 25-point effort. Gavin Myers and Gaven Muhlenkamp both had eight points, and Tarron Bentz tallied four points.
Chief girls split
MUNCIE — Renna Schwieterman outscored the Titans by herself Monday in guiding the East Jay seventh grade girls basketball team to a 37-21 win over Northside.
The eighth grade Chiefs fell 34-28.
Schwieterman led all players with 21 points to pace the Chiefs. Lydia Keihn was second with seven points, while Olivia Waters and Eden Abshire had five and four points respectively.
Madison Dirksen recorded 20 points in the loss for the EJMS eighth graders. Heaven Hambrock finished with four points as Abby Elzey and Andrea Jutte had two points each.

Information was inadvertently omitted from a local roundup item regarding the Dunkirk Elks Hoop Shoot contest in Monday’s newspaper.
Lydia Johnson (9-and-10-year-old), Wyatt Foster (9-and-10-year-old), and Paisley Fugiett (10-and-11-year-old), all students at Redkey Elementary who finished first in their age group in the hoop shoot on Sunday, advance to the district competition on Jan. 21 in Yorktown.
