Jerome Minnich
Jerome J. "Jerry" Minnich, 84, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017, at Golden Years Homestead in Fort Wayne.
Born in Bryant, Indiana, Jerry worked as a printer/technician with Fort Wayne Newspaper for many years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church from 1964 to 1992 and coached CYO basketball at the school from 1971 to 1979. Jerry was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy. Jerry was a retired baseball and basketball official. He proudly volunteered with AARP and the IRS for many years doing tax returns for the low income and elderly.
Surviving are his children, Lisa (Jeff) Greene of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Annie (Michael) Minnich-Beck, Tom (Colette) Minnich of Olathe, Kansas, Joe Minnich of Costa Mesa, California, Ed (Liz) Minnich of Murrieta, California, and Mike (Margo) Minnich of Omaha, Nebraska; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five siblings, Bea Hoevel of South Lyon, Michigan, Eugene (Ginnie) Minnich of Maplegrove, Minnesota, Paul (Norma) Minnich of Portland, Indiana, Eileen (Don) Guntle of Portland, Indiana, and Harold (Kathy) Minnich of Portland, Indiana; his companion, Patricia Schubert of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and a son-in-law, Gokhan Guvenc of Oakland, California.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary Minnich; a daughter, Claudine Anderson-Guvenc; a brother, Norbert Minnich; a sister, Lucille Wickliffe; his father, Adam Minnich; and his mother, Hilda Minnich.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. with calling an hour prior to Mass.
Calling will be Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017, from 4 to 8 p.m. at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, with a Rosary at 4 p.m.
Burial in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
