Tri Kappa says thanks for support

To the editor:

February 19 through 24 is Tri Kappa Week in Indiana.

Tri Kappa is a philanthropic organization based only in the state of Indiana. Our purpose is to promote charity, culture and education.

All the chapters in Indiana support Riley Hospital in Indianapolis in various ways.

Locally we support the Fourth of July Committee, Arts Place, Community and Family Services, Jay County Historical Society, Jay County Chamber of Commerce, Pregnancy Care Center, United Way of Jay County, Winterfest, Jay Community Center, Jay County Public Library's summer reading program, Jay County Summer Swim Team, Jay County Head Start, Jay County Special Olympics and Youth Service Bureau.

We give $3,000 in scholarships to Jay County High School students. We provide Christmas gifts for all the residents of the county nursing and group homes and Retirement Center. We donated $1,500 toward Portland Water Park and raised $10,000 to build a gazebo at the Hudson Family Park.

We would like to thank the public for helping us do these things by buying nuts, playing "Vera Bradley/Thirty One" Bingo (April 24, this year), buying advertisements to be read at the Jay County Fair and buying our caramel apple slices.

We want to thank Jay County Fair Board for allowing us to sell and take tickets and usher at the various events.

We want to thank the associate chapter of Tri Kappa for helping us with these projects.
