Roll-over
A Converse woman was injured Friday in a roll-over accident on Indiana 1.
Tia E. Powell, 33, 305 E. Mulberry, told Jay County Sheriff’s Office she was traveling south on Indiana 1 just south of its intersection with county road 150 South when her car hydroplaned on standing water. She lost control of her 2015 Dodge Journey, which traveled east off the highway into a ditch and rolled.
Powell complained of back pain and was transported to Ball Memorial Hospital.
Damage in the 2:40 p.m. accident is estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
Left turn crash
A Redkey woman and a Portland man were involved in a collision Friday.
Ashley N. Nichols, 28, 4414 S. Younkin Drive, told Jay County Sheriff’s Office she was attempting to turn left onto U.S. 27 from county road 500 South, but that she pulled out into the highway without stopping and drove into the path of a vehicle driven by Marvin C. Teel.
Teel, 83, 5731 S. U.S. 27, said he was driving his 2017 Pontiac Sunfire south on U.S. 27 when Nichols pulled out in front of him. He swerved left but was unable to avoid hitting Nichols’ 2007 Chevrolet HHR.
Nichols was cited for failing to stop at the intersection and for not having auto insurance.
Damage in the 12:20 p.m. accident is estimated between $10,000 and $25,000.
