Trafficking
A Hartford City man pleaded guilty to a trafficking charge recently in Jay Circuit Court.
Nathan W. Hicks, 31, 211 S. Jefferson St., Hartford City, pleaded guilty to trafficking with an inmate, a Level 5 felony. He was sentenced to serve six years in Indiana Department of Correction and given credit for time served since the date of his arrest on March 12, 2017. He was assessed $185 in court costs and was ordered to pay a $200 drug abuse, prosecution, interdiction and correction fee.
Syringe possession
Two local women pleaded guilty to syringe possession charges recently in Jay Circuit Court.
Haley C. Williams, 20, 325 E. Butcher St., Geneva, was sentenced after previously pleading guilty to unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony. She was sentenced to 2.5 years in Jay County Jail, with 1.5 years suspended and given credit for time served since her date of arrest on April 12, 2017. She was assessed $185 in court costs, ordered to pay a $200 drug abuse, prosecution,interdiction and correction fee, a $400 Jay Superior Court Substance Abuse Program fee and was placed on formal probation for one and one half years after her release.
Alissa L. Bunch, 23, 637 N. Main St., Dunkirk, pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a syringe, enhanced to a Level 5 felony. She was sentenced to serve three years in the Indiana Department of Correction, with credit for time served since July 7, 2017. She was assessed $185 in court costs and ordered to pay a $200 drug and alcohol countermeasures fee.
Probation violation
A man already held in Jay County Jail and a Pennville woman were sentenced recently in Jay Superior Court for violating their probation.
William D. Phillips, 42, Jay County Jail, was found in violation of the conditions of his probation stemming from a previous conviction for battery resulting in serious bodily injury, a Class A misdemeanor. He was sentenced to serve an additional 46 days of the one year sentence originally imposed, and given 34 days credit for 17 days already served.
Raven S. Myers, 20, 325 E. Bridge St., Pennville, was found in violation of the conditions of her probation stemming from a previous conviction for theft, enhanced to a Level 6 felony. She was sentenced to serve an additional 90 days in Jay County Jail of the 18 months sentence originally imposed, and was given 89 days credit for 47 days already served.
Narcotic possession
A Portland woman pleaded guilty to a drug possession charge recently in Jay Superior Court.
April S. Snyder, 36, 627 E. High St., pleaded guilty to possession of a narcotic drug, a Level 6 felony. She was sentenced to serve 18 months in Jay County Jail with all but six months suspended and given two days credit for one day already served. She was assessed $185 in court costs, ordered to pay a $200 drug abuse, prosecution,interdiction and correction fee, a $400 Jay Superior Court Substance Abuse Program fee and was placed on formal probation for 12 months. As a part of a plea agreement, an additional charge of possession of marijuana was dismissed.
