Burglary
A homeless woman was sentenced recently in Jay Circuit Court on a burglary charge.
Melinda S. Bannister, 32, no known address, pleaded guilty to burglary, a Level 4 felony. She was sentenced to serve six years in the Indiana Department of Correction with two years suspended and given credit for time served since the date of her arrests on October 22. She was assessed court costs of $183 and placed on formal probation for two years following her release.
Syringe possession
A Portland man was sentenced in Jay Superior Court recently after pleading guilty to a syringe possession charge.
Dylan A. B. Clubs, 24, 1237 N. U.S. 27, Lot 37, pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony. He was sentenced to 12 months in Jay County Jail and given 14 days credit for seven days already served. He was assessed $183 in court costs.
Narcotic possession
A Portland man and Union City woman pleaded guilty recently in Jay Superior Court to separate drug possession charge.
Eric L. Garringer, 25, 703 S. Meridian St., Portland, pleaded guilty to possession of a narcotic drug, a Level 6 felony. He was sentenced to one year in Jay County Jail to be served consecutive to a previous sentence, with the full sentence suspended. He was assessed $183 in court costs, ordered to pay a $200 drug abuse, prosecution, interdiction and correction fee and placed on formal probation for twelve months.
Garringer was also found in violation of the conditions of his probation stemming from a previous conviction. He was sentenced to serve an additional 216 days of the one year sentence originally imposed and given 216 days credit for 108 days already served.
Tracey D. McCarty, 46, 503 Beamsville Union City Road, Lot 38, Union City, Ohio, pleaded guilty to possession of a narcotic drug, a Level 6 felony. She was sentenced to one year in Jay County Jail with all but 180 days suspended and given 136 days credit for 44 days already served. McCarty was assessed $183 in court costs, ordered to pay a $200 drug abuse, prosecution, interdiction and correction fee, a $400 Jay Superior Court Substance Abuse Program fee and was placed on formal probation for six months.
As a part of plea agreement, additional charges of possession of methamphetamine and unlawful possession of a syringe, both Level 6 felonies, were dismissed.
Probation violation
A Fort Recovery man was sentenced recently in Jay Superior Court for a probation violation.
Nicholas A. Noggler, 22, 207 Caldwell St., was found in violation of the conditions of his probation stemming from a previous conviction for possession of a narcotic drug, a Level 6 felony. He was sentenced to serve an additional 58 days of the one year sentence originally imposed, and given 38 days credit for 19 days already served.
