Pedestrian struck

A woman was struck by a vehicle in downtown Portland on Friday afternoon.

First responders and EMTs were called to the scene of an accident at 4:33 p.m. at 101 N. Merdian St., where a woman was hit by a car. The patient was transported to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. A police report on the accident was unavailable by press time.

Motorcycle crash

A Dayton, Ohio, man was injured in a motorcycle accident near the state line on Tuesday evening.

Tony E. Beaty, 53, 1727 Suman Ave., was driving his 2004 Harley-Davidson Sportster west on county road 300 North, just west of the intersection with State Line Road, when he lost control of his motorcycle, drove into the ditch and was thrown 21 feet from his vehicle. Beaty was transported to Jay County Hospital with internal chest injuries.

At the hospital, he was administered a blood and urine test for drugs and alcohol. Results are pending.

Damage in the 6:45 p.m. accident was estimated between $5,000 and $10,000.
